What is Vernier Depth Gauge?
Vernier Depth Gauge as the name suggests is used to measure the depth of an object from a reference surface. A vernier caliper also has a depth bar but cannot be used as a standard measurement.
Types of Vernier Depth Gauge
There are two types of vernier depth gauge-
Analog type
Digital type
The minimum reading of analog vernier depth gauge is 0.02 mm while the minimum reading of digital type depth gauge is 0.01 mm.
How to measure depth with vernier depth gauge?
The method of measuring a vernier depth gauge is the same as that of a vernier caliper. Vernier scale is moving on the main scale.
In the case of the digital type, the vernier depth gauge can see the result in a liquid crystal display with a maximum measurement speed of 1.5 meters per second.
Gear tooth vernier
Concept: Vernier Gear Tooth Caliper. A vernier gear tooth caliper has two verniers perpendicular to each other as shown in the figure. It is used to measure the chordal thickness of a gear tooth in the pitch circle of the gear. A horizontal vernier caliper is used to measure the thickness of gear teeth.
Digital calipers
A caliper is an instrument with a measuring scale and a "jaw" that measures the dimensions of an object. A vernier caliper is a special type of caliper that has two scales, including the vernier scale.
